The Furuno FM4800 is a compact, feature-rich marine VHF radiotelephone featuring Class D DSC, built-in high-sensitivity 72-channel GPS receiver, AIS receiver, and simplified loud hailer with intercom. It provides 25W/1W output power and supports NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 networking. Its robust, waterproof (IP67) design allows versatile mounting options (desktop, overhead, or flush mount) and seamless integration with Furuno NavNet TZtouch series and FI70 instruments. The FM4800 acts as a backup GPS source for onboard electronics and supports direct DSC calling from compatible NavNet displays. It includes 10 weather channels and ATIS for certain inland waterways.

The FM4850 Black Box Marine VHF system offers similar built-in features plus enhanced loud hailer capability with 30W output, multi-station intercom, and support for up to 3 stations with optional HS4800A handsets. It features a metal, waterproof black box design for increased durability and flexible installation in space-limited vessels.

Both models feature an innovative Listen Back function that picks up external sounds through the horn speaker and transmits them inside the cockpit, enhancing communication with crew or assisting anglers by amplifying rod and line vibrations when a fish strikes.
