Shakespeare Galaxy® VHF and AIS Marine Antennas
Models:
-
5225-XT-RL: 7' 8" Galaxy VHF Antenna
-
5225XT-AIS: 8' Galaxy AIS Antenna
Product Description
The Shakespeare 5225-XT-RL is an 8-foot collinear phased 5/8 wave VHF antenna designed for marine applications requiring extended range and durability. Featuring brass and copper elements, it maximizes range and efficiency. Its stainless steel ferrule with a standard 1-inch 14-thread facilitates straightforward installation on compatible mounts. The antenna includes 20 feet of low-loss RG-8/X coax cable and a PL-259 connector (not installed). It is built with a high-strength fiberglass radome finished in sleek Galaxy white with a high-gloss, non-yellowing polyurethane coating, designed to resist high winds and high speeds commonly encountered atop hardtops, T-tops, and radar arches.
The 5225XT-AIS model is an 8-foot antenna engineered for AIS transceiver bandwidth requirements, offering similarly robust construction and design features. It operates in the VHF/AIS marine band at 6 dB gain with a maximum input power of 100 watts. It comes equipped with a stainless steel ferrule, 20 feet of RG-8/X low-loss cable, and a PL-259 connector (not installed). The antenna's broad bandwidth and durable fiberglass radome construction ensure reliable and clear communications.
Both antennas deliver a nominal SWR of approximately 1.5:1 at their respective operating frequencies, operate at 50 ohm impedance, and provide vertical polarization. The 5225-XT-RL is DC grounded (reads shorted on continuity checks), enhancing electrical safety and performance; the 5225XT-AIS shares this feature. Both are covered under Shakespeare’s 5-year limited warranty.
